1. How to deploy your first web application in minutes (Level 200)

From serving content for static websites and single-page applications, to scaling up server-side web applications, AWS has the tools to get the job done quickly and securely. In this session, we explain how to get started and host your first web application on AWS in a matter of minutes. Learn more about the various options available on AWS and how each option is appropriate for the different use cases. We complete the session with illustrative demos of these use cases.

Speaker: Gabe Hollombe, Principal Developer Advocate, AWS

2. Building mobile and web applications with AWS Amplify (Level 200)

AWS Amplify enables web and mobile application developers to build scalable and secure cloud-powered applications with ease. Using AWS Amplify, you can easily add cloud components into your application including user authentication, cloud storage, databases, analytics and even machine learning capabilities. In this session we start with an application made with Flutter (a popular open source toolkit for building web, mobile, and desktop apps), and integrate some of the above capabilities using AWS Amplify.

Speaker: Matt Coles, Principal Technical Account Manager, AWS

3. Getting started with DevOps on AWS (Level 200)

Imagine this: your developers completed the first version of your application and you are now ready to go to market. You take the piece of code, fire up an Amazon EC2 instance and copy them into it. You invite all your users to visit your site and you realised the application begin to show errors and failures. Your developers then individually come back with a fix for each error you have identified, but there are so many versions of them, and you do not know how to merge them. You realized you need to take the site offline in order to deploy the fix. Your users start to post their frustrations on your social media channel and your competitors take the opportunity to introduce them their product. This is in fact a common scenario that many teams face today.

Human errors are inevitable. Regardless of how much engineering efforts you put into building a resilient application and handling edge cases, sometimes a case beyond our reach turns a benign failure into a catastrophic one. Therefore, it is essential to leverage some key DevOps principles and use CI/CD pipelines so that you can iterate and quickly release features while at the same time, minimize your “blast radius” to your users. Automation is key. In this session, we walk you through some of the continuous integration and delivery tools to setup in AWS and help raise the bar to prevent costly deployment failures.

Speaker: Loh Yiang Meng, Solutions Architect, AWS

4. Increase efficiency of your Backup & Recovery workflow with AWS (Level 200)

The exponential growth of data in your organization makes managing backup and archive more difficult than ever before. With traditional methods such as tape libraries and secondary sites falling behind, many organizations extend backup targets to the cloud. You can build an unlimited scalable, highly secure, and durable backup and archive solution with AWS storage services in combination with AWS APN partners. In this session, learn the backup approaches you can adopt for your workload in a hybrid setup or protect your in-cloud workload. We also share the various architectural patterns and specific AWS services and features use for backup and recovery such as AWS Backup, AWS Storage Gateway, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon S3 Glacier, Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive, Amazon S3 object Lock, and APN Partner Integrations.

Speaker: Kumar Nachiketa, Sr Partner Solutions Architect (Storage), AWS

5. Purpose-built databases: Choose the right tool for each job (Level 200)

Seldom can one database fit the needs of multiple distinct use cases. The days of the one-size-fits-all monolithic database are behind us and highly distributed applications are using many purpose-built databases. The world is changing, and the categories of databases continue to grow. We are increasingly seeing customers wanting to build Internet-scale applications that require diverse data models. In response to these needs, we now have the choice of relational, key-value, wide column, document, in-memory, graph, time-series, and ledger databases. Each solves a specific problem or group of problems. In this session, learn how AWS purpose-built databases meet the scale, performance, and manageability requirements of modern applications.

Speaker: Thiago Dolabella, Principal Technical Account Manager, AWS

(Track-2)
